Prayer Vigil: October 12, 1 pm New York time
James Twyman invited to Iraq to Pray Peace

  From James Twyman:

As many of you already know, I have been invited to perform a concert for peace in Baghdad on October 12. Millions of people around the world believe that war is an inappropriate solution to our problems with Saddam Hussein, or any other international conflict. This is a chance to do something about it, to use the power of prayer as  a catalyst for positive change. I hope you will forward this e-mail to your friends around the world. The goal is
for  millions of people to focus their prayers of peace at the same moment. We need your help to make this happen.  This is the second time the government of Iraq has invited me to Baghdad when the threat of war seemed  imminent. In 1998 millions of people  from at least 80 countries focused their prayers on Iraq, and three days later
a peaceful solution was achieved. This year the worldwide vigil is being coordinated with another international event called Earth Dance, a peace initiative being held in 106 cities around the world. (If you want information on how you can join the gathering in your city, go to EarthDance.org.) Over a quarter million people will gather in each city on October 12, and at 1pm New York time participants will join together in this prayer:

We are one global family,
all colors, all races, one world united.
We dance for peace and the healing of our planet earth.
Peace for all nations.
Peace for our communities.
Peace within ourselves.
Let us connect heart to heart.
Through our diversity we recognize our unity.
Through our compassion we recognize peace.
Our love is the power to transform the world.
Let us send it out...
NOW!!

We are asking you to do the same. After you say this prayer aloud,  either alone or with a group, FEEL the presence of peace in Iraq and the whole world. This feeling is the key to creating peace. Scientists have proven
that our emotions influence events and even weather patterns, and we want to produce a wave of peace that will touch the leaders of our countries, as well as every person in the world.

PRAY THE PRAYER, AND THEN GENERATE THE FEELING OF PEACE AT 1 PM NY
TIME, OCTOBER 12.

I will be with a group of people in Baghdad and we will consciously anchor these prayers into the earth there. You can also join me via the Internet by going to WorldPuja.org. I will have a satellite phone with me and will
broadcast the prayer at the designated time, and World Puja will  transmit my signal around the world. If possible, try to be with a group of people in your own home or church, joining me either online or in spirit. I also intend to send regular e-mails reporting the details of my trip to Iraq. If you were forwarded this letter and want to be on our mailing list, please follow the instructions at the bottom of this e-mail. Please keep me in your prayers, but more importantly, please join us in changing the world with the power of joined prayer.

In Peace,
James Twyman

The causes page passes this on, thinking perhaps it might be of interest to some... (it comes from Zen Priest Dr Harvey Sodaiho Hilbert of Zenliving@yahoogroups.com)

-------

A deep bow to each of you,

It is with deep sorrow that I see the United States has renounced its
treaty agreement to support a world tribunal. Moreover, the United
States has withdrawn its support of the Vienna Convention's article on
treaties.

We seem to think that we are so big that we are above the law of the
rest of the world and that somehow such treaties will affect our
sovereignty.  This is sad.  The rest of the world looks to us for
leadership and direction.  Playing by rules, playing fairly, and being
accountable, are major elements of leadership and these also assist us
in being supported by other nations. Such moves as these undermine our
efforts and destroy our credibility with our neighbors.

Please write to President Bush and ask that he look again at such
behavior.

This is the email address of the White House:

President George Bush <president@whitehouse.gov>

Thank you,

With palms together,
Sodaiho

Greetings...

I am writing because there is an important Spiritual matter to share with you. As you know, a lot of what we experience in our own Spiritual awakening is not easy to word effectively for the general public. But some issues are getting a high enough profile to actually cause seekers to spontaneously “open their eyes” all over the world. One such issue is violence. People are realizing that the violence-way will not sustain a sane and growing Humanity. Many are now groping for a viable alternative to the beliefs, perspectives and activities of a violent world.

Can we actually do something about it? Perhaps so. I am thinking there is enough awareness, especially among those of us who are on a Spiritual path, to try something “large-scale”. Do you feel it? An opportunity is opening. There is enough stress in the world, and enough mental awareness, to successfully convey some Spiritual perspectives into the main-stream public consciousness.

Do you think we can assist in a shifting of their perception? I do. I live my days knowing that ideals become reality as we live them. A lot of things sway the attention of the public. Peace can too, if it is served right.

It will take three things, in essence: First, a few of us agree to do it, and hash out the details. Second, we furnish something real for people to focus on, experience, and to win with. Finally, the methods and means of conveying our intent into the mainstream attention. If these three factors are willfully extended from our hearts, we can light a Spiritual healing-fire on this planet.

With an intent to furnish a nucleus for such a movement, I have written a kind of game for people to play. It conveys explicit strategies for “Saving the world through Peace”. The game is called “Phreaking the Heat”. This is a very potent method of developing greater Spiritual awareness and clearer Spiritual vision. There are lots of great side-effects too. I sincerely hope that you have that “I couldn’t have said it better myself” feeling when you read it.

This whole idea is based upon the premise that things of Life grow in sharing. People can realize that saving their own world helps to save the world as a whole. Peace grows as people share it.

The package is hand made. It consists of a scroll, a candle, and embedded in the candle, the pieces of a pendant.  I have placed a transcript of the scroll on the web for your viewing. As you read the material you will recognize many of your own beliefs. We all are sharing the same Life and experience it from our own perspective.  Your path and mine are different yet the same. It is our “sameness” that fills the scroll of “Phreaking the Heat”.

I propose that we work together to begin a practical and very real movement for Peace. The young adults I have observed are ripe for an alternative that has meaning. I suspect the ones in your life are facing the same sort of thing. When a feasible alternative is presented in a way that is acceptable, we can do a lot of good shining, and save this place a lot of grief at the same time.

If you agree with where this is heading, read the scroll transcript and decide for yourself if you think it can sustain the kind of movement we all want to see happen. If so, let us share our thoughts on how to bring it to pass.

The “Phreaking the Heat” material is available here: http://www.ourfoothills.com/pth/

Additional information is available here: http://www.ourfoothills.com/

With great interest, I await your response.

 Peace,

Peter Blank
